general call for works
Composers are asked to submit up to two works, for
chamber ensemble (any combination of instruments up
to a maximum of fl, ob, cl, bsn, hn, tpt, tbn, perc, pno, strings
- 1.1.1.1.1). The scores needn't be for the full combinations,
so we welcome any submissions from solo through to the full lineup.
From the submissions we will choose suitable works to be played in the
following season's concerts. At our innaugural concert we performed
Elegy by Andrew Thomas and at the Colin Matthews 60th birthday
tribute concert we performed a piece by Gareth Churchill, Poetic
Metres. Most recently Phillip Drew's Two Ritual Dances was
performed.
We are looking for scores, of a high quality which
could fit with our adventurous programmes. Compositions may have been
played before, though preferably not published. The call for works is
open to composers of any age or nationality and there will be no bias
towards British composers, or composers based in the London area.
At present we are
particulalry interested in receiving works for solo instruments although
any combination of instruments is welcome. If you are unsure about a
particular submission please do feel free to get in touch.
We will be keeping every score that is submitted in
order to compile a 'library' of contemporary scores. From this we will
choose repertoire for not only this season's concerts, but for future
seasons and any other engagements that we may undertake.
Composers should submit two copies of each score. There
is a £7.50 handling charge with each submission (this covering
both pieces should two be submitted). This is to cover costs associated
with score selection, cataloging and storage.
You can use either paypal to pay for the cost of submitting
works (all submissions sent from countries outside of the UK should
pay in advance through paypal) or you can include a sterling cheque
made payable to The London Contemporary Music Group with the submission.
Please send scores (with a short CV and biography)
