The Management
Team
There are two directors who take responsibility for the day
to day running of the ensemble; Phillip
Cooke and Adrian Hull, and
a council of nine people who meet frequently to discuss the way forward
for the organisation.
The Organisation
As a newly formed group, the LCMG has done well to establish itself
so quickly within the British musical scene. Early concerts have involved
collaborations with renowned composers including Mark-Anthony Turnage
and Colin Matthews, both of whom have written works for the ensemble.
The LCMG has also started to forge links with the next generation of
composers both from the UK and abroad through their “Call for
Works” scheme, and working with Universities and other educational
establishments around Britain.
One of the principal
aims of the LCMG is to bring new music to as wide an audience as possible.
With relaxed ad welcoming concerts and through pre-concert talks and
discussions, the ensemble is hoping to create an inclusive environment
in which everyone can feel welcome.
Working with a
range of composers from around the world, the LCMG is committed to the
exploration of the incredible diverse world of contemporary classical
music. It is the aim of the LCMG to explore this diversity, and to encourage
its expansion and informed appreciation through its promotion on the
concert stage. The LCMG is also encouraging audiences to explore the
music through its associated educational events and the ensemble’s
website.
Another of the
key aims of the LCMG is the championing of neglected British contemporary
music, something which the ensemble feels strongly about. The re-introduction
of these works alongside the “Call for Works” scheme, aims
to expand audience horizons to include a range of work with which they
may not previously have been familiar.
